Cylinder Head bolts are put through a lot of stress and re-torquing used bolts can sometimes result in failure. We strongly advise that you replace the head bolts whenever you remove your cylinder head to prolong the service life of your engine. Stock head bolts on a 20R, 22R, and 22RE are considered by Toyota to be a one-time use bolt.
