Warranty, Core, and Shipping

CORE, SHIPPING & WARRANTY INFORMATION

Below you will find important information regarding core charges, our shipping process, and warranty coverage.
If you have any questions, please call or email us—we are happy to help.

CORE INFORMATION

Deposits on Engines, Transmissions, Transfer Cases, or 3rd Members

Deposits are refundable only if the item has not been built or machined.

  • If the item has not been built or machined, your deposit will be refunded minus a 20% administrative fee.

  • If the item has already been built or machined, the deposit is non-refundable.

Engine Core Charges

Each engine includes a refundable core charge.

Please note: not all cores qualify for a full refund. Core refunds are based on the condition and rebuildability of the core returned.

When it comes to your core, please remember:

  1. We would much rather receive your good core than keep your deposit—we cannot build quality engines without quality cores.

  2. We are very selective about the parts we use in our engines, and we must be equally selective when reusing blocks, rods, and crankshafts. Even if a block or crankshaft is not usable, there may still be parts we can reuse. In many cases, a partial core refund may still be possible. If you are unsure, please call us and we can walk you through the process.

  3. We do not accept a different engine as a core exchange. For example, we will not accept an early 22R core for a late 22R, or a late 22R core for a 22RTE turbo. This same policy applies to transmissions and any other items requiring a core charge.

If you are unsure which core is required for your order, please contact us before purchasing so we can confirm the correct application.

If your Toyota engine is not listed above and you need clarification on what to include or remove, please contact us before returning your core.

CORE CONDITION NOTES (ALL ENGINES)

Oil Disposal Fee

If your core is returned full of oil, there will be a $50 deduction from your core charge for oil disposal.

Studs / Hardware Reminder

None of our engines come with intake or exhaust studs. Stock engines do not include valve cover studs.

Please remove all studs from your core engine before returning it. If you are unable to remove them, we have new stud kits available for purchase.

CORE POLICY (IMPORTANT)

Yota1 Performance, Inc. is not responsible for any extra parts or accessories left on a core engine that are not required for your engine build.

If you are unsure whether to remove certain items (such as sensors, manifolds, accessories, or hardware), please contact us before sending your core. We cannot keep track of extra parts left on core engines that are not needed for the build.

ALL OTHER PARTS CORE POLICY

Any part that includes a Refundable Core Charge may be eligible for a refund; however, refunds are not guaranteed.

Core items must be returned in rebuildable condition. Requirements vary by part, especially with items such as transmissions and knuckles.

  • Please refer to the individual product listing for core requirements.

  • If the item must be shipped to you, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your core refund.

  • After inspection, the remaining balance will be refunded within 4–6 weeks, either by check or back to the original payment method (when applicable).

If you have any questions about how the core return process works, please call or email us so we can help.

ENGINE SHIPPING INFORMATION

When purchasing an engine, please remember you will receive a better shipping rate when shipping to a commercial address with a forklift or loading dock.

Shipping prices shown in the shipping calculator are based on:

  • A commercial location

  • Regular business hours

  • Forklift or loading dock available

If shipping to a residential address and/or needing lift gate service, there will be an additional charge. Shipping carriers do not allow a pallet to be unloaded by hand.

Please Note: Shipping quotes are estimates only. Rates have been changing daily.

Typical Shipping Transit Times

  • Pacific Coast: 1–3 days

  • Mountain: 2–3 days

  • Central: 3–4 days

  • Eastern: 4–5 days

Returning Your Core Engine

Core engines cannot be picked up at the time of delivery unless:

  • The core is strapped down to a pallet

  • All oil has been drained

  • It is ready to go

  • You have already arranged pickup with us in advance

Please do not leave unneeded accessories on the engine, as our shipping weights are based on the engine core only.

It works best if you reuse our shipping pallets when returning your core engine. Please call us with your business hours and pickup location details so we can help schedule the core pickup.

Return shipping costs will be deducted from your core refund. You are welcome to use your own carrier if you prefer.

Please note: if your core engine is not rebuildable, you may still be responsible for return shipping costs. Even if the block is not usable, we may still be able to accept other core components for a partial refund—please refer to the core requirements above or contact us for details.

Remember: we would rather have your core than your money.

WARRANTY INFORMATION

Yota1 provides a standard one (1) year warranty on most engines and transmissions.

Yota1 warrants each remanufactured engine and transmission to be free from defects for one year. If a defect is found, we will repair or replace the defective part or workmanship issue. Any possible defects must be reported to Yota1 immediately.

BREAK-IN OIL REQUIREMENT (IMPORTANT)

Break-in oil must be used for the first 500 miles while your engine breaks in properly. This helps prevent damage to internal components such as the camshaft, rocker assembly, and other engine parts.

Failure to follow this procedure will void your warranty.

If you have questions during installation, please call us. We also have installation tips available on our website at 209Yota1.com.

We work hard to build and provide quality products. If you are unhappy with any of our products, please let us know.

WARRANTY DETAILS

Standard 1-Year Warranty

Yota1 warrants all products for 365 days from the date the product is received by the customer, unless otherwise specified.

This warranty covers the purchased product in the event of defect, malfunction, or failure for 365 days. At Yota1’s discretion, we may repair, replace, or refund the defective part within a reasonable timeframe.

  • Refunds will not exceed the original part purchase price.

  • Labor is not covered under the standard warranty.

Unless specifically noted on the front of your invoice, this is the only warranty on your purchased product.

NOTICE TO WHOLESALE CUSTOMERS

Wholesale customers must review warranty options with their customer before any work begins. Customers must understand what is and is not covered, and how warranty coverage affects costs.

Warranty claims will be handled with the wholesale customer, not directly with their customer.

PRODUCT AND LABOR WARRANTY RULES

  • Warranty coverage begins on the date the product is received by the customer.

  • Coverage is limited to the original buyer and requires compliance with the invoice terms.

  • If the product is repaired or replaced under warranty, the warranty term is still based on the original invoice date.

  • Warranty claims must be approved before any work is performed.

  • If Yota1 did not install the engine, transmission, or part and no labor warranty was purchased, the product must be removed and returned for inspection.

  • Please contact us before removing the part from the vehicle. Many issues can be diagnosed in the vehicle, and we may be able to help prevent unnecessary removal.

  • All engines include three thermal recorders. If any heat tabs are melted or removed, all warranty coverage is void.

  • Warranty is void for failure due to abuse, improper installation, faulty accessories, lack of lubrication, low fluid levels, overheating, improper coolant use, rich/lean conditions, or use of starting fluid.

  • All transportation costs are the responsibility of the buyer.

  • Yota1 reserves the right to repair, replace, or refund the purchase price of any product covered under warranty.

  • Do not remove the part from the vehicle without approval. Warranty issues are best diagnosed in the vehicle.

  • All warranties are void if the product is used for racing, competitive, or commercial use.

  • Yota1 is not responsible for incidental or consequential damages including labor, installation, shipping, towing, fluids, lost income, or downtime.

  • The purchaser must retain the original invoice for any warranty claim.

  • Warranty is non-transferable, except when purchased by a dealer installing into a client’s vehicle (resale certificate required on file).

  • Yota1 may suspend, modify, or discontinue extended warranty and labor coverage programs without notice.

  • Yota1 reserves the right to choose the facility where labor is performed.

  • Warranty installation cautions and procedures apply to certain assemblies such as engines, transmissions, transfer cases, and axles. Please review all installation guidelines to protect your warranty.
