Most transmissions, transfer cases, and bell housings use two dowel pins at both the front and rear for proper alignment.

General Dowel pin Information:

  • Most transmissions we build use two solid 12mm dowels at the front (between the transmission and bell housing). These will be installed in your new transmission, (except L45, L50 and L52)
  • There are also two 12mm dowels between the engine block and bell housing—these should remain in the engine block and are not supplied by us (can be ordered separately by clicking here)
  • Dowel pins may get stuck in the wrong component during disassembly, which can cause   issues when replacing components. Because of this we often ship dowels loose and attach the bag to a visible spot on the unit.
