Fitment

By checking this box, I acknowledge that Tundra and Sequoia spindles come in two sizes depending on the build year, with the primary difference being the lower ball joint bolt pattern. Although Toyota designates the change at September 2003, these parts can be interchanged if the appropriate lower ball joints are used. It’s not uncommon for older vehicles to have upgraded newer parts. It is my responsibility to verify whether my vehicle has the smaller or larger spindle before placing an order. Please refer to the illustration below for clarification.

Description

Ready to Manual Hub Swap your 1st Gen Tacoma or 3rd Gen 4Runner?

Use the Yota1 Remanufactured Pre-Assembled IFS Steering Knuckles also known as Spindles to make a quick manual hub swap.

Converting your 1st Gen Tacoma or 3rd Gen 4Runner to manual hubs have several benefits. When the hub are in free spin the CVs are disconnected from the hub thus allowing less rolling resistance and less moving parts. This allows for 1-3 mpg increase and less wear on CV axle boots. It is also popular to be able to have access to low range in 2WD. If you are on the trail and CV axle fails it can be helpful to unlock that hub to be able to lip the vehicle to a safe spot to make the repair.

1st Gen Tacoma, and 3rd Gen 4Runner / Early Tundra and Sequoia Wheel Bearings Installed in Remanufactured Spindles and professionally pre-assembled for easy installation

The 1st Gen Tacoma, 1st Gen Tundra, 1st Gen Sequoia, and 3rd 4Runner wheel bearings are a press fit in the steering knuckles. When installing new wheel bearings, the wheel bearing must be properly supported or it will destroy the bearing. This press job can be troublesome for even the best DIY mechanic, it requires building a jig and a proper press setup. On the video tab, you will find the wheel-bearing installation video by Timmy the Toolman, this can help you decide if you have the proper tools to replace a wheel bearing yourself. If you would like to complete this job with ease these Pre-Assembled Steering Knuckles are right for you.

Yota1 Pre-Assembled Steering Knuckles have new KOYO wheel bearings, Genuine seals, new wheel studs, and new wheel hubs with inner new needle bearings. The optional Aisin locking hubs are brand-new OEM hubs that don’t include hardware. The optional Hardware Kits have three options based on budge they all include hub studs, cone washers, washers, nuts, axle c-clip, axle washer, outer gasket, and inner gasket but the will either be Genuine or aftermarket.

The knuckles themselves are quality cores that are thoroughly inspected to ensure they are within Toyota specifications, with no cracks, bends, or flaws that would affect longevity. The optional dust covers are new Genuine dust covers and can be installed or pre-modified to allow them to be bolted on. Dust covers include new hardware. You can also choose to have a Genuine or 555 upper ball joint installed.

The final option is to have Yota1 weld on a Total Chaos Spindle Gusset. To install these gussets it is best to remove your wheel bearing before installation. This is why we have this option, we weld on the spindle gusset before any other components are installed to ensure nothing is damaged by the heat.

These knuckles are professionally assembled by the Yota1 Team, allowing you to easily install new wheel bearings quickly, without requiring a press. You can drive with confidence knowing that the wheel-bearing was properly supported during installation and professionally assembled by the Yota1 Team.

We know you need to get your vehicle back on the road in a timely manner, we do our best to keep all parts in stock, sand blasted and painted, ready to assemble. There is a 7-14 day lead time on all spindles, however, sometimes these are being assembled immediately after you place your order.

If you plan on or have done the “big brake conversion” please use the Tundra Brake dust shields.

*The 1st Gen Tundra and Sequoia have two different size steering knuckles. The early years 2000-2003 use a smaller lower ball joint. September of 2003 is the split year and 2004-2007 use a larger lower ball joint.

Fits:
Tacoma 1995-2004
4Runner 1996-2002

Sequoia 2000-9/2003
NOTE: Some 2003 Sequoia and Tundras use smaller lower ball joint bolts. Please reference the photos below to determine if you have the small early knuckles or larger later knuckles.

It is recommended to replace wheel bearings every 150,000-200,000 miles, if you are loaded heavy or off-roading often you may want to replace these every 75,000-100,000 miles. Wheel Bearing will start to make a rotational squeal or metal-on-metal sound when they have gone bad and should be replaced.
