Description

 4Cyl Injector seal Kit (22RE 22RTE)

These seals should be replaced anytime they are disturbed. If you have never replaced these seals it is very likely that you could have a small vacuum leak around the base of at least 1 if not all 4 injectors. The lower cushion ring is subject to constant heat and becomes very brittle. If you’re replacing your engine, head, head gasket or intake manifold, you will definitely need this set (these are included with our engines and all of our engine and head gasket sets).

INCLUDED IN THIS KIT:

(4) Bottom Insulators
(4) Grommets for the top
(4) O-Rings

DISASSEMBLY:

Disconnect the positive battery terminal, remove the fuel cap, mark and remove all vacuum lines from the throttle body and intake plenum. Unplug TPS, remove the 3 bolts and 1 nut from the throttle body (you can leave the coolant hoses connected) remove the throttle body from the intake plenum, remove the 2 bolts from the EGR tube at the back of the plenum, remove the banjo bolt from the cold start injector (be careful not to bend the fuel line to the cold start injector) remove the 4 bolts and 2 nuts that attach the intake plenum from the lower intake manifold, remove the intake plenum, remove the 6mm bolt from the fuel line, remove the fuel line connection at the fuel damper (front of fuel rail) remove the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator (rear of fuel rail) remove the return fuel line either from the regulator or the hard line at the firewall, remove the 2 bolts that attach the fuel rail, remove the fuel rail, remove all 4 injectors, remove all old O-rings, upper and lower cushion rings from the injectors, make sure the pocket for the lower cushion is clean and all pieces of the old cushion rings have been removed (this hole goes directly into the intake manifold and anything that falls into it will end up on the top of the intake valve so be careful), check that the holes in the fuel rail are clean and free of corrosion.
Install the new upper cushion rings on to the injectors (this is the ring with the grove around the outer edge) next you will install the o-rings on to the injectors, Push the new lower cushion rings into the pockets on the intake manifold (this is the cushion ring without the grove) Apply a small amount of O-ring lube or clean motor oil to the o-ring (DO NOT USE WD40 OR ANYTHING NOT COMPATIBLE WITH RUBBER) now, while being careful not to damage the o-ring gently push each injector into the fuel rail. 88-95 injectors are 2 hole injectors and have an alignment slot, make sure the plastic tab on the injector is in between the notches on the fuel rail, 84-87 injectors are single hole injectors and do not have a specific orientation but you will need to pay attention the the electrical connector location. With all 4 injectors installed into the fuel rail you will lightly lube the outer edge of the injector tip and reinstall the fuel rail. Start with #1 injector and install one by one, this can be a little award so be patient and delicate, You’ll get it. reassembly is reverse order as disassembly. (be sure to replace all gaskets) After everything is back together but BEFORE the engine is started it is VERY IMPORTANT to check for leaks, Cycle the key 3-5 times from off to run without starting the vehicle, now look very carefully for fuel leaks….No leaks? AWESOME your a pro!
