22RE Dual Row Conversion Kit

Fits: 1985–1995 22R / 22RE (Carb or EFI)

Upgrade your 1985–1995 22R/22RE engine with our Dual Row Timing Chain Conversion Kit, designed to replace the factory single-row setup and eliminate the common failure point of the stock plastic timing chain guides.

This conversion allows you to run a dual-row chain with steel guides, making it a must-have upgrade for turbocharged or supercharged applications, and a smart preventative upgrade for any high-mileage engine.

Why Upgrade to Dual Row?

The factory plastic guides in 1985–1995 engines typically last around 100,000 miles. After that, timing chain failure becomes a serious risk.

The most common issue is the left-side guide (slack side). Over time, it can break apart and fall into the oil pan. Once that happens, the chain has nothing keeping it under control and it can begin rubbing against the timing cover.

This often leads to the chain wearing a hole into the timing cover behind the water pump, allowing coolant to enter the crankcase—potentially destroying the engine.

Don’t risk it. Make timing chain guide failure a thing of the past.


Kit Includes

  • Modified 22R timing cover

  • Complete OSK dual-row timing set (OEM) including:

    • 96-link dual-row timing chain

    • Right & left steel guides

    • Tensioner

  • Aisin water pump (OEM)

  • Aisin oil pump (OEM)

  • Dual-row oil pump drive gear (OEM)

  • All gaskets, seals, and hardware required to complete the conversion, including:

    • Timing cover gaskets

    • Front main seal

    • Oil pump O-ring (OEM)

  • All new bolts included

    • That’s right—no reusing old hardware. You’ll receive a complete new bolt set.


IMPORTANT CLEARANCE NOTE (Read Before Ordering)

The timing cover included in this kit is stock height. If your engine has been rebuilt in the past, the block may have been decked, which can slightly change overall engine height and component alignment.

In some cases, a decked block can affect timing cover clearance and fitment, and may cause the cylinder head and timing cover heights to differ slightly. If you know your engine has been rebuilt or decked, or you are unsure of the engine’s rebuild history, we recommend contacting us before ordering so we can help you choose the best option for your setup.


IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTE

If you are using this Dual Row Conversion Kit with a 1985–1995 flat-face valve cover, the front portion of the baffle under the oil fill hole must be removed to prevent contact with the timing chain.
