When ordering a rebuilt 3VZ or 5VZ from Yota1 there are three different options for oil pans. The selected oil pan will be installed on your engine with the correct pickup tube and windage tray for that application unless otherwise specified.

Type 1 – 6 Lug Tacoma, 4Runner, and Tundra 5VZ engines: Use the same oil pan so if you are simply replacing a 5VZ in a vehicle originally equipped with a 5VZ Engine and the vehicle has not had a Solid Axle Swap (Stock to Stockish IFS Suspension), select the option for a standard Tacoma, 4Runner, Tundra oil pan. This is the pan you would find on a 1995-2004 Tacoma, 1996-2004 4Runner and 1999-2004 Tundra. For a 5VZ in a 5 Lug Tacoma, please call for Oil Pan information. T-100 is a different animal, see below

Type 2 – 1995 or older Pickup, 4Runner and all 4×4 T-100: Use the same oil pan so if you are simply replacing a 3VZ in a vehicle originally equipped with a 3VZ Engine and the vehicle has not had a Solid Axle Swap (Stock to Stockish IFS Suspension), select the option for the Type 2. This is the pan you find on a 1988-1995 Pickup and 4Runner and a 1993-1998 T-100 4×4.  If your planning to axle swap in the future you will need to address the oil pan at that time as the T-100 2wd oil pan will not clear the front differential on any 4×4 IFS vehicle thus will not work until the solid axle swap is complete.

Type 3 – 1993-1998 T-100 2wd or a vehicle that has been Solid Axle Swapped: You will likely want to order the rear sump T100 2wd oil pan. These have become very rare so if this option is chosen, you will receive a new genuine Toyota oil pan, pick up tube installed on your engine. In this case you do not owe us a core pan and tube. This is the pan you would use for 1993-1998 T-100 2wd. This is also the pan you would likely use for most vehicles with a Solid (Live) Front Axle. Due to the custom natural and different setups on solid axle swaps, we cannot guarantee fitment. This is the only option for a rear sump pan and is what most vehicles with a solid front axle use. You may leave the old pan on the core engine if you have no use for it, but will not receive extra core return money for those items.

_ Oil Pan and Dipstick Information for a 3.0L and 3.4L

Here, we are going to cover the basics for some of the special needs that arise during engine and axle swaps. Lets talk Axle swaps first. If you are doing a solid axle swap on any of the vehicles discussed above, you will likely needs a rear sump oil pan. When using a rear sump oil pan, it is also common to use a side mounted dipstick.

T-100 Oil Pans are scarce. If you are replacing the engine in a T-100 Truck, you can transfer your original oil pan & Pick up Tube (Engine will ship without Oil Pan & Pickup Tube). Or choose the option for a new OEM oil pan & pickup tube and we will install it for you. For those of you doing a 5VZ Swap, you might need a T-100 Oil Pan. If so, be sure to select the option for T- 100 oil pan and pickup tube.

For those of you doing 5VZ Swap, keep in mind Tacoma, 4Runner & Tundra Dipsticks are located in the oil pump at the front of the engine. T-100 Dipsticks are on the side of the block so be sure to choose the vehicle application for the vehicle that the engine came from. If you need a T-100 oil pan, simply choose that option.
